Chile wooden basket

Many epiphytic plants need plenty of air around their roots, while others push their flower shoots straight downwards (Stanhopea, Gongora, Lacaena, Lueddemania and many more). These plants should be cultivated in wooden baskets to meet their needs. As the plants attach themselves to the wood with their roots, repotting is usually no longer possible. Therefore, choosing the right type of sturdy wood is very important. Pine wood or thin sticks have a short lifespan and are not recommended.
